Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Seneca County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept them. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the site.

NO FCRA USE. Seneca County Criminal History is privately operated and has no connection to a local, New York, or federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provide a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource identifies official criminal record channels in Seneca County, New York. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It does not store official criminal files, submit court papers, obtain records on a visitor's behalf, or conduct an official background check.

Its content points readers to Seneca County Sheriff Records, the courts that hear local criminal cases, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect to outside tools that may assist independent research.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is permitted only under these conditions. You must not:

  • Use site information to stalk, threaten, or harass another person
  • Violate any applicable local, state, or federal law
  • Use content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or restricted area
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked service may not be used to harass, intimidate, stalk, threaten, or discriminate against anyone. Such conduct may also be criminal. New York places particular limits on misuse of New York State Sex Offender Registry information. Registry data supports public safety awareness and never authorizes vigilantism, blacklisting, or discriminatory treatment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Seneca County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Its advertising partners are not presented as services for applicant screening, rental review, insurance rating, or credit decisions. You may not use information from this site or a linked tool to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

A check needed for a regulated purpose must come through the legally authorized New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services channel or a compliant consumer reporting agency.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General descriptions of Seneca County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, or New York record sealing rule applies to one set of facts. Seek advice from a licensed New York attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." No promise is made that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Criminal files change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, or sealed. Updates can lag and gaps may remain. Content here is not an official statement from a sheriff, court, DCJS, or any government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff pages, court systems, New York agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. Those destinations are independently controlled. Seneca County Criminal History is not responsible for their availability, content, privacy practices, prices, or terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Seneca County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Seneca County Criminal History is not liable for damage arising from use of the site, including reliance on information from a page or linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the site harmless from claims, demands, or legal actions caused by your use or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in New York. Public access to agency material remains subject to the New York Freedom of Information Law, while DCJS criminal history duties and dissemination are governed by Executive Law section 837.
